Legal & Mental Health Services

The resources below provide legal and/or mental health services. Some services are free, and others are provided on a sliding scale or depend on insurance coverage.

Legal resources are confidential for those age 13 and older. Attorneys are not required to report child abuse and neglect disclosed to them in the course of their work.

For youth ages 13 to 17, when seeking mental health care be aware that providers are mandated reporters of child abuse and neglect. While they do not have to share all your mental health information with the District’s Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA), providers do have to report if someone has abused or assaulted you. For a full explanation of what this means for you, visit Resources on Confidentiality & Mandated Reporting.

If you are unsure about how to safely access these services, contact the DC Victim Hotline to speak with a confidential, community-based Advocate who can help you understand and navigate your options.
